Meritor Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Meritor, Inc. (NYSE: MTOR) is an American corporation headquartered in Troy, Michigan, which manufactures automobile components for military suppliers, trucks, and trailers. Meritor is a Fortune 500 company. In 1997, Rockwell International spun off its automotive business as Meritor. In 2000, ArvinMeritor was formed from the merger of Meritor Automotive, Inc., and Arvin Industries, Inc.

A project manager mentioned, "First of all let me tell everyone that Meritor gave a FOURTY PERCENT (40%) PAY REDUCTION in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. What a horrible place! They’ve been cutting people left and right since the pandemic which I understand but considering this is a Fortune 500 company, it’s extremely disappointing that they can’t even keep their finances together. They have no mercy-many friends i had at the company were let go without any type of severance -most having a large family thereby many mouths to feed. This company is a joke and will go down in flames. Majority of the executive committee was also let go- boy those stockholders must’ve been real mad at all of them. Thankfully I am not let go but I am also a very single man- nobody to support. Nice job Meritor; worst company I’ve worked for in my 25 years of project management experience. I plan on leaving the minute the economy gets better"

Former Employee - Engineer says

"-poor pay -40% salary cut during COVID-19...then 20%...then 10%....with no promise of ever regaining your money back. Other local companies have done such but taking it as a loan WITH INTEREST. Please take the positive reviews here with an EXTREMELY large grain of salt as they have a team of PR individuals who scan the internet abyss for bad reviews of their precious company"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Pretty much everything else is a con. The hours fluctuate constantly, management doesn't haven't a clue. They don't even know an hour in advance what job is being setup. You're lucky if they know by Friday afternoon if they're going to try and force you to work on Saturday and then by the next week they might cut your Friday. The turnover rate is sky high and now they're hiring people that have no clue with scrap rates going through the roof. It used to be a good company to work for when it was AA Gear, but Meritor bought the place and ruined it in less than a year."

Former Employee - CNC Machinist says

"Company needs to think b 4 they act."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Mandatory weekends mean you don't see your family. Managment makes rules they don't follow themselves. People suck up to get a promotion. Good folks are abused. Unethical things happening all the time. Bosses cower to complainers. Dangerous work environment with no drug testing."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Family owned so inter-office is full of family drama"

Former Employee - Purchasing Manager says

"Management unable to make decisions. Lack of development opportunities for employees. Lack of training. HR is a joke. Many ethical issues left unanswered. Environment not safe or suitable for female employees"

Former Employee - Senior Process Manager says

"The company is run by an "inner circle/clique", promotion is based on who you know and not what you know. Company departments are disjoint resulting in constant in-fighting, which will sap all of your energy. So if you are thinking of a possible Career Path here, it is best to keep moving and finding a different place to exert your talents and energy on."

Former Employee - Procurement - Truck says

"High turnover, lack of support, little effort to develop employees. Tense environment. Management “boys club”. Not supportive of work/life balance and work employees more than what they were told."

Former Employee - Former Employee says

"Dedication means nothing. Everything you do is too hands on. Expect way too much physically, unrealistic. Safety is a big issue so when people are overworked & the physical demands expected are way too much, why would you not understand accidental situations. Need equipment upgrades. Production would be a lot smoother for freshly rested employees. Doesn't matter how long you've been there. If you can't cut the physical demands anymore, you're pretty much gone! Your a dime a dozen!!"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Sure, you'll be great at the job but you will not be recognized. -Blame games are super strong at this place. -If you are a pretty lookin' lady, you've all of a sudden got so much over the guys. -Few individuals are definitely on a power trip and want to use their newly acquired position/status to make peoples' lives miserable. Furthermore, -Your work will not be appreciated, if you found savings opportunities, you wont get pat on the back but rather a more ridiculous and unrealistic savings target. -The company believed in 2.5% YOY savings target, which is just an unrealistic target to achieve. -Lack of communication between department probably just like any other place. -Upper management always ends up being the savior/hero, Buyers who bust the butts will not get squat. -There are also groups of bullies that will treat college kids like absolute crap. Purchasing sucks everywhere but this place is just the worst. Absolute nightmare."

ASSEMBLY (Former Employee) says

"Meritor hires only through temporary agencies and lays them off automatically at 8 months. This company has such a high employee turnover rate, so most people did not work for this organization for more than 2 months. I was determined to make this a career move for myself. Meritor hires through temporary agencies and lays people off right at the 8-month anniversary date to avoid paying benefits and unemployment. I was hired with the promise that I would be moved to full-time permanent status with full benefits and increased pay after my 90-day probationary period. All of performance reviews were great. However, this company never kept its promises. Other employees were made promises that the company never kept as well. Employees work on the point system, meaning if they miss so many days then they are terminated. No valid reasons are accepted by management."

Weld Technician (Current Employee) says

"Not a good place for intelligent, hard working, and loyal people. If you want to advance, they tell you there's plenty of room for advancement, just to hire external. If you can't say yes to every wish of management, say goodbye quickly. The company isn't run properly. Very poor if any, communication across departments, leading to loss of production and delivery needs not being met. If your looking for a career, this is not the place for you."

Distribution Clerk (Former Employee) says

"Worst place ever. Favoritism is the name of the game. Not inclusive. Drug tests results get altered if you are not a favorite. Passing of the buck is the norm.NoneEverything"

Brake Assembler Technician/ ForkLift Driver (Former Employee) says

"Don't do it!!! Working here is equivalent to receiving government assistance. These people will have you slaving for them for bare minimal compensation."

Dowel welder (Former Employee) says

"Nunca ven por los trabajadores solo le importa ellos y nmas andan hay tras de uno los de seguridad pa nomas estar molestandoGasto de medicos mayoresNo puedes ni estar agusto en el brake por que ya te estan criticando"

Operator II (Former Employee) says

"I work for this company twice, They advance people based on who they like and if you’ll kiss they’re butt. Don’t expect that you’ll get pay raises or advancement based on your knowledge or experience. They do not know how to operate a batch company nor how to work with each department in order to build a successful process to complete a part. Parts are constantly deviated and never held to customers print dimensions. Stay away from this company far away.NoneAny thing you could think of."

Shipping and Receiving Clerk (Former Employee) says

"Outdated and unsafe equipment. I wonder if they've had a month no incidents. The 3 years I worked for the company my pay increased very slowly. The management is awful."

A Body (Current Employee) says

"The Manning, SC plant as a whole operates in an unprofessional manner to the 10th power. You never know when you will have a day off. Favoritism, nepotism, cronyism, and even sexism are openly practiced in the plant from the Plant Manager on down. A lot of the employees have personal ties to one another, therefore, you hear a great deal of unprofessional conversations. The term "safety" has no meaning there. The educational level of the employees, as a whole, is very low. The culture is toxic and it is cemented into the floor of the plant. Its a jobEverything else (literally)"

Shipping Clerk (Former Employee) says

"On a daily basics, I was to pack and ship brake parts through UPS Worldship and Fedex Worldship. Also had to find traveling rates for loads leaving the shipping dock. We had to make sure at all times our work area meet 5s standards."

"company closed in automotive downturn, had people reloate from michigan to loose there job, was sad. company overall was not a good place to work for, but it was a job."

Team Leader (Former Employee) says

"Meritor is a revolving door. They constantly find rediculous reasons to fire people. Then they turn right around scratch their heads trying to figure out why they dont have enough manpower to do their pathetic jobs. They cant put two and two together. Managers and facilitators are constantly, non-stop, trying prove their jobs. Half of them do absolutely nothing but take attendence. The other half drinks coffee. Im telling you worse job I have ever had, worst managers possible. You will be dirty, completely filthy every day. You will bust your butt and they will not appreciate it. Some manager or facilitator in there, will get the credit for your hard work and ideas. The same guy or girl that gets your credit will constantly hound you. Waiting for you to just slip up so they can pin something on you. Meritor is just one big blame game. If your not down to play the blame game, do not work here. Poor excuses for management, and really anyone else that doesnt do the actual labor. They are all out to prove a reason they should be working there. I can on and on.Benefits are good. Thats it.Whatever you can possibly think can be wrong at a job, is for sure wrong here."

Al says

"I ordered and paid for some fuel and oil filters, when order was received in two shipments it was short one fuel filter. This started around the end of July I have gotten emails promising shipment of missing filter, NOTHING BUT PROMISES I still don’t have what I ordered. DON’T BUY FROM THEM , I will never buy from this company again. I will probably never see the filter I bought! Nothing but lies and BS!"

Jim LaMantia says

"I purchased a alternator from these folks, it was bad and I returned it with proof of delivery and they still have not refunded me.. This was for a diesel engine, so it was over $500. Don't do business with this company, they're not good. I must have 25 emails back and fourth with them."

Corey Butler says

"What a disaster of a company. Find it parts is a joke. Ordered an actuator for a turbo charger yesterday for overnight delivery and they didn't ship it til today for Monday delivery. Then the MANGER Sal laughed at me and told me it wasn't his problem that THEY shipped it late and I'd be stuck til next Monday"
